Jasmin Mackenzie Conservation

About

Jasmin Mackenzie Conservation specialises in the care and conservation of modern and contemporary sculpture and installations. With a foundation in both mechanical engineering and conservation, the practice offers a unique approach to preserving complex artworks—particularly those incorporating movement, non-traditional materials, or experimental construction.

Jasmin combines hands-on conservation treatment with materials testing and research, with a particular focus on plastics and their behaviour over time. Whether working with kinetic pieces, large-scale installations, or fragile synthetic materials, the practice is rooted in a deep respect for artists' intent and a commitment to innovative, research-led solutions.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in 3D Object Conservation from City and Guilds of London Art School as well as a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham.

She is currently undertaking a PhD part-time jointly with the V&A Museum conservation department and Imperial College London mechanical engineering department where she is researching the degradation of plastics in modern collections.
